Earlier this month, a journalist from the Dallas Morning News was fired from her job after she addressed the mayor of Dallas, Eric Johnson in a particular way. The news outlet claimed that her way of addressing the mayor violated their social media policy, which led to her dismissal. In light of this, NBA legend and Hall of Famer, Shaquille O’Neal gave his take that might amuse fans. While talking about the issue, the 4-time NBA champion looked deeply concerned.
Shaq is quite frank and doesn’t hesitate to speak his mind. Often, Big Diesel could be seen giving his opinions on different things happening in the country and this time was no different.

In mid-February, Johnson called out the local and national media houses for not reporting that violent crimes have decreased in the city. Moreover, he added that if crimes were increasing then the news outlets would have rushed to cover that topic.
Our local media have no interest in reporting on this data, which is why you haven’t heard about it. But you better believe if Dallas was leading the nation in violent crime INCREASES you’d be hearing about it daily. It’s sad, really. In reply to this post, Mangrum said in a now-deleted tweet, “Bruh, national news is always going to chase the trend. Cultivate relationships with quality local news partnerships.” This made Johnson say in reply, “Bruh? Have we met?” He further expressed his supposed disappointment in a subsequent tweet. The Morning News was surely not fond of her tweet and therefore, fired her.
In one of the recent episodes of his podcast, The Big Podcast with Shaq, Shaq’s co-host, Spice Adams, talked about the incident. The four-time champion responded by saying, “This world is getting too soft. You know what I cannot wait till I check into my damn old folks home…You kidding me, you fired a lady coz she said ‘bruh’, come on though stop it.”

Judging from his comments, Big Diesel evidently did not appreciate that Mangrum was dismissed from her job for saying ‘bruh’.
