The Brooklyn Nets were under heavy scrutiny for their tumultuous off-season drama. Six losses in the first ten games added more fuel to the fire. The prediction was that the Nets were in for a disastrous season. However, the tables have now turned. The Nets have gone from being under fire to being on fire very quickly. They are currently on a ten-game winning streak, the highest in the league, with their 10th win coming against the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday night. This victory was led by the expertise of Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant. While the world applauded the Nets, one star from the Atlanta Hawks stood up for Kyrie Irving.

The game between the two teams was nothing short of a nail bitter. With a few seconds left on the clock, the scoreboard read 108-107. Atlanta Hawks’ point-guard Dejounte Murray was in possession and missed a basket to grab the victory, resulting in a narrow win for the Nets. The Hawks entered the arena with three of their stars sitting on the sidelines. These players were Trae Young, Clint Capela, and De’Andre Hunter. Despite this, the Hawks put up a fight and didn’t make it a smooth-sailing affair for the Nets.

Trae Young stands up for Kyrie Irving

Right after the buzzer went off, Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving walked up to his opposition and congratulated them for the fight they put up. He embraced the Hawks’ players and shook their hands. Following this, the seven-time All-Star walked up to Trae Young.

The two shared a hug for a few seconds while Irving whispered something to the youngster. A video of this wholesome moment was shared online. Trae Young retweeted the same and referred to all the negative talk that surrounded Irving’s character. He wrote, “Some don’t even understand the type of dude he is. Real ones do!” 

Young’s comment was a result of the heat Irving received for his recent controversy. While he served his punishment, the negative narrative around his character continued to grow. Hence, Trae Young found it fitting to chime in while speaking up for Irving’s character and the misunderstanding of the public.

The Brooklyn Nets have entered the good times

The Brooklyn Nets have won 14 of the last 15 games. With a sublime record of such, it is safe to say that the storm has gone past them and the sun is shining bright on the team. The players are locked in every game and their drive to win is seen on the court.

During the post-game session with the media, Kyrie Irving spoke about what the 4th quarter means to him. He said, “For me specifically when the fourth quarter hits, it’s winning time”. Irving added that he has identified the role he needs to play during the last quarter in particular.
