WNBA superstar Brittney Griner has spent more than 200 days in a Russian prison now. With negotiations between the two countries taking time, it seems her detention is far from being over.

Athletes and celebrities all around the world have supported Griner after her arrest earlier this year. Former sprinter Chris Mosier, who has been quite vocal about transgender rights in the country, has now started a campaign to free Brittney Griner.

Moreover, he has been very supportive of Griner throughout the whole fiasco. Recently, he launched a huge campaign that brings people together in order to support the jailed basketball star.

Mosier tweeted, “240 days. I did 4.2 miles in honor of @brittneygriner’s jersey number 42. You can walk/run/roll/stroll in honor of BG today too.

Mosier’s team urges people to run/bike/walk/swim either 2.40 miles, 3.2 miles, or 4.2 miles in honor of Brittney Griner. Interestingly enough, all the aforementioned numbers are quite symbolic.

Griner has spent 240 days in prison which represents 2.40 miles. Similarly, Griner turns 32 soon which represents 3.2 miles and her iconic jersey number with the Phoenix Mercury represents 4.2 miles.

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James said, “She’s been there over 110 days. Now, how could she feel like America has her back? I would be feeling like, ‘Do I even want to go back to America?’”

His statements were taken in a negative way by numerous people across the world and the four-time NBA champion had to issue a clarification.

On the other hand, Stephen Curry also openly supported Griner after the court sentenced her to nine years in prison. He said, “Unfortunately, it’s such a helpless situation when you think about all the details of what’s happened.” Much like LeBron, Curry also received a lot of backlash for supporting a polarizing figure like Brittney Griner.
