The Los Angeles Lakers put their stamp on the second-round series. LeBron James and Co. defeated the Golden State Warriors at the often intimidating Chase Center to take a 1-0 lead. As experts and fans foresaw, Anthony Davis unleashed his dominance all over the Bay. The clash of the California behemoths gave Dub Nation action and theatrics until the end, but it was LA’s night. It came down to one glory shot from Jordan Poole to potentially tie the game for Stephen Curry and the Bay. However, the sheer distance and scenario sparked a debate between the old school and the modern stars.

Former NBA forward, Channing Frye was disgusted by Poole’s long-distance attempt. However, a young Indiana Pacers guard saw it as ‘cool’ to shoot it.

The reigning champions were one three away from tying the game. They had schemed a 14-0 run only minutes before to be in that position. The Purple and Gold were on the move with one objective, get the ball off, Stephen Curry. They sent a double-team, and the two-time MVP passed the ball out. On any other night, he might have tried to dribble away to get a shot, but Curry knew there was another threat on the floor.

Jordan Poole was having arguably his best game of the playoffs. He was leading the bench unit for the Bay, scoring 21 points and sharing the ball with 6 assists. He was wide open at the left wing, and Green got him the ball. With 10 seconds left, the fans saw in anticipation. What will Poole do next?

Well, he shot the ball from near half-court in hopes to tie the game. His wild attempt missed and so sank the Warriors’ hopes of winning the game. Watching along with the thousands of Warriors fans were Frye and Haliburton.

The former Cavalier was puzzled at the sight of Poole shooting the ball. “No way Jose!” said the 39-year-old. Most might have thought the same, but not Haliburton.

“What’s wrong with that shot guys?” said the 23-year-old Pacers point guard.

Haliburton felt Poole was ‘wide open’ and couldn’t know if there would be another opportunity for a better shot. Whereas Frye saw him shoot from “where Darvin Ham is”.

After an intense back and forth Haliburton said his last words. “I’m shooting that if I’m Jordan. So I feel you Jordan. I would have shot that too”. But he was not prepared for the fire Frye was ready with. “That’s why you’re here with us,” said the former Cavalier, as everyone burst into laughter.
