In a helluva turnaround, the Washington Wizards upset the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday night. No one saw this coming, perhaps not even the most optimistic people in the room. The Wizards are now 2-0 against the Nets in this season with the recent 149-146 victory. 

The Nets took an early lead in the game, with Kevin Durant scoring 21 points in the first half. Both Kyrie Irving (Nets) and Bradley Beal (Wizards) were quiet before halftime and picked up the heat afterward. It was more of a Russell Westbrook show who scored a double-double and stayed active on both ends.

After such a massive victory, it was obvious that Twitter would erupt.

The last time the Nets lost to the Wizards was on January 3. It was also a closely fought game where Russell Westbrook, Beal, and Thomas Bryant all scored a double-double to win it 123-122. However, this time around, it was Russ as the leader and the others as a supporting cast.

These tweets might seem unkind to the Nets fans, but one must accept that it was not a game for the Nets to lose; they lost more because of their personal woes than the brilliance of the Wizards’ attack.

When did the Wizards turn the game?

The Nets were leading 130-121 with under five minutes remaining in the game. Kyrie Irving was gunning down from one end, and it seemed like an easy victory to the Nets, but it all changed from then on. 

A couple of personal fouls from Jeff Green awarded some crucial FTs to the Wiz. Bradley Beal with his jump shots and layups kicked up the scoreboard further, and it became a two-point game at 136-134 with the Nets leading. Later, two back-to-back threes from the Wiz duo and a weak defense from the Nets allowed the game to slip into Scott Brooks’ end. 

The Wiz coach had shown enough positivity after their last loss and all that helped the Wizards pull a memorable win. But this leaves fans with the question: would the result be the same if James Harden was playing?
