Dwyane Wade has been through some gritty stuff in his time on the court. He has some major achievements under his belt.  The three-time NBA champion had played for the Miami Heat for most of his career, which has had several highlights and controversies. One of them, though, turned bloody at the end of it all.  It involved not one but three iconic NBA players.

That ‘bloody nose’ incident involved none other than Udonis Haslem, an incident that is still fresh in the mind of NBA fans and dates back to the 2012 Indiana series. The main perpetrators in the incident were Udonis Haslem, Tyler Hansbrough, and Dwyane Wade. In that series, Udonis experienced a hit in the face and went under the surgery needle too. Down the line, Dwyane Wade was bleeding.

Dwyane Wade still reminisces about the incident that occurred during a match in the series. He told Sports Illustrated, “In the 2012 Indiana series, Udonis had gotten hit in the face earlier. It was a very physical series. When he got hit in the face and started bleeding, he was just shaking his head like, ‘All right, all right, motherf—–.’ The hit that Tyler Hansbrough put on me, if you go back and watch, that was a f—-d hit. And I’ve done some hits. I f—-d some people up. So, I can’t be one to ever complain. But I was a little dizzy after that one.”

Dwyane continued, “Udonis saw it. Then he saw the high five between Hansbrough and one of his teammates. And I remember going to the huddle and telling UD to leave it alone, that it was fine. And he just had this look on his face like, ‘No, it ain’t.’ And then the basketball gods gave us a pick-and-roll; they threw it back to Hansbrough, and Udonis was the low man. What are you supposed to do?”

UD had to take the brunt and the fall from the incident

At the end of it, Haslem had to sit out for one game for striking Hansbrough in the face. For his part, Dwayne said, “That’s playoff basketball, and that’s UD’s mentality.”

UD getting bloodied in court was a rare incident of blood on the play floor, and the repercussion was as brutal too, and therefore, created another memory for the fans. In the court or outside it, it’s always nice to know that someone’s looking out for you.
