Each passing day seems to bring more shocking news surrounding Kyrie Irving. Irving is paying the price for promoting an antisemitic film based on a contentious book. The price of worldwide criticism, paying $500,000, being suspended for at least five games by the Brooklyn Nets, and even losing connections with major brands. And now news from Amazon has left the NBA world shocked as well.
Irving recently said, “I just put things out there just like you put things out there” to a reporter when asked about his controversial post. But soon he realized his mistake and apologized. But things didn’t seem to end there. Irving and the Brooklyn Nets donated $500,000 each to organizations that fight against social hatred and injustice.

Even after receiving widespread condemnation, it appears that this controversy will not be resolved anytime soon. In addition, according to recent reports, Nike has reportedly terminated their relationship with Kyrie Irving.

On one side, things seem to go out of Irving’s hands; on the other, this controversy has seemingly bought free publicity for the film. As a result, ‘Hebrews to Negroes: Wake Up Black America’ is supposedly now Amazon’s #1 best-seller in Ethnic Studies. Furthermore, alternate versions or sequels hold spots 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, and 11.

So far this season, Irving has averaged 26.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 5.1 assists. These stats are enough to show how important a role he has in the Brooklyn Nets side. Fans will hope this controversy ends soon and he can once again make headlines for his actions on the court, rather than off it.
