Stephen Curry believed he had a killer instinct ever since he was in high school. The Golden State Warriors superstar revealed this little piece of information during an interview with ESPN’s Sam Alipour back in 2013, a couple of years before winning his first NBA championship. It is not a secret that Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant is known to possess a certain killer instinct that made him ‘The Mamba.’ So when Alipour asked if he possessed that quality, the Baby-Faced Assassin did not take long to answer that question.

In an interview with Patrick Bet-David, Shaquille O’Neal talked about having killer instinct and when Kobe Bryant got it. The host, PBD, asked Shaq if he saw anyone else in the league who had developed the same killer instinct that the Big Aristotle had. Without hesitation, Shaq took the Los Angeles Lakers legend’s name. He said that in the first two years after Kobe was drafted, he was just an NBA player. However, by the third year, the Black Mamba had developed his killer instinct. The interview was released on September 9, 2022.

Almost a decade before the interview took place, Steph had already clarified that he too had the same instinct as Kobe Bryant.

Stephen Curry once admitted to posses the ‘Killer Instinct’ way before LeBron James did

In the beginning of the on-call interview, Sam Alipour asked Stephen Curry what scared him the most on the court. Steph replied that he was scared of sustaining injuries. While he is not scared of failure of taking risks, getting physically hurt in the process was the one thing that he was fearful of.

Alipour stated that his performance in the playoffs showed that Steph was a killer. He then said that he had the ‘it’ factor that Kobe had and something that LeBron James didn’t have until his first championship. The Golden State Warriors superstar seemingly did not disagree on the LeBron James fact. On the other hand, he said that he did have the killer instinct.

” Yeah, I have it. Since high school, I’ve never been afraid of big moments. I get butterflies, don’t get me wrong. I get nervous and anxious, but I think those are all good signs that I’m ready for the moment,” revealed Steph.

LeBron James, who won back-to-back championships with the Miami Heat in 2012 and 2013, once gave his own version of having the killer instinct. In an interview, LeBron was asked if people underestimated his killer instinct in comparison to Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant. In response, James said that not every player ‘killed’ the same way MJ and Kobe did. But that did not mean that players like Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar were any less of NBA legends.
