Usher Left NBA Fans Confused By Celebrating LeBron James and Kyrie Irving’s Cavaliers Win for Lesser Known Reason

The Cleveland Cavaliers won the NBA title in 2016 after 52 years. This was their first title since 1964. The partnership between LeBron James and Kyrie Irving created history. LeBron and Kyrie led the Cavs to beat one of the best teams in the history of the game, the Warriors.

The Warriors under Steve Kerr were absolutely ruthless. They had won an NBA title and then went on to win two back to back after losing in 2016. The two sides played 4 finals in a row. Moreover, the 2016 win for the Cavaliers was more special because the Cavs came from 3-1 down to win 4-3 and clinch the final.

It was a dramatic end to an enthralling 7 game finals series. The fans absolutely loved the LeBron vs Curry battle. And the end made all LeBron fans elated. Among them was the world-famous American singer Usher, but for another interesting reason.

Usher joined the celebrations on the court of the Oracle Arena. Along with being a LeBron fan, Usher also owns a part of the Cavaliers which he bought way back in 2005. Usher had invested some $9 million in the team, which would have given him roughly a 1% stake. “I know I have the talent to entertain, now I just want to be a great businessman,” he told Forbes more than a decade ago.

LeBron became the 3rd player to record a triple-double in the final after Jerry West and James Worthy. ‘King James’ scored 27 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists.

He also won the finals MVP with 29.7 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 8.9 assists per game in the 7-game series. James scored more than 40 points in two games out of the seven. It was LeBron’s willpower at 3-1 when he ensured they are going to put up a tough fight. This was what pushed the 31-year-old and the rest of the team.

Other than the final as well, LeBron averaged 26.3 in the playoffs. Moreover, he averaged 25.3 in the regular season, which ended as the 1st seed for the Cleveland Cavaliers. It was a season to remember and a final series that will go down in history as the recovery from 3-1 down had never been done before.
