Utah Jazz has made a name for itself in the past couple of seasons as a legitimate threat and a serious championship contender. A key piece of this team is the three time NBA DPOY award winning Frenchman, Rudy Gobert.

The Jazz beat the Denver Nuggets 125-102 in their matchup today. As always, Rudy Gobert, who was doing it all on the floor, ended the game with 18 points, 19 rebounds and 2 assists. The Jazz were plus 36 with him on the court. They are now third in the Western Conference with 29 wins and 14 losses.

Gobert, a.k.a. the Stifle Tower, was shooting at a 100 FG% today and is enjoying a 70.6 FG% in the 2021-22 season. This is even more impressive considering that it was his first game back after clearing COVID-19 protocols.

However, this was not the most spectacular feature of his performance today. Gobert hit a full court one arm shot which went in. Unfortunately, the ball left his hand just milliseconds after the buzzer and so the officials didn’t count it.

Their next matchup against the Lakers is likely an easy win as Lebron James and Dwight Howard are listed as probable. Also, Anthony Davis is out and Carmelo Anthony is listed as questionable.

The only teams above Jazz in the Western Conference are Warriors and Suns. Considering Klay has limited minutes and Steph is also recovering from a wrist injury, Jazz have a good chance of climbing up the ladder to the second place.

Draymond Green held the number one spot on the DPOY ladder in December. However, with his calf injury, he is probably out for two weeks. This gives Gobert a chance to reclaim the number one spot and become a four time NBA DPOY.
