The trade saga with Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets is still going on. After making his trade request to the Nets owner months ago, Durant is still a player of the Nets. Many teams have offered different kinds of deals, but the Nets have not accepted any so far. But one team is unwilling to part with their All-Star in exchange for Kevin Durant.

The New Orleans Pelicans are one of the youngest teams in the league. They have All-Stars in Brandon Ingram and CJ McCollum. And not to mention a budding superstar in Zion Williamson. Last year, they took the number one seed, the Phoneix Suns, to six games without Williamson. And many have expected them to take the next step and become a powerhouse in the West.

And for this reason, they are reportedly unwilling to part with their stars. According to sources, the Pelicans are not ready to include Brandon Ingram in a trade for Kevin Durant. Ingram is considered a second coming of Durant who is still young and yet to reach his prime. So the Pelicans are hesitant to part with Ingram.

Pelicans are one more guy away from elite. They don’t need Durant. Keep what they have. Get a solid big defensively and they will be hard to beat.

They just made the 8 seed with BI missing a third of the year, only having CJ for 26 games, and without Zion logging a min. So please tell me how did you come to this conclusion that they will only be an 8 seed considering the are healthy for the majority of the year 😐

Why would you trade anything significant for someone who’s willing to force his way out of a situation he doesn’t like, but is not necessarily bad for anyone else?

good. Zero need to break up Ingram/Zion/CJ without seeing it on the court first. They got amazing depth with Herb, Murphy/Graham/Alvarado/Hayes/JV/Dyson

Durant trade seems unlikely
The Brooklyn Nets have been given multiple offers by teams but they are willing to accept any of them. Many teams have offered multiple starters and draft picks but the Nets seem to want more. The Rudy Gobert trade seems to be the new standard for trading superstars in the NBA.

Along with that, the Nets have committed over $350 million to Kevin Durant. They have given him almost everything he wanted. He wanted Kyrie Irving and James Harden and the Nets obliged. He wanted to choose his own head coach, and they agreed. They even got him other stars who may have been not worth the price tag.
So despite his request, the Nets seem to hold all the cards in this situation. Durant is still signed for another four-years with the Nets. And until the Nets get what they want, it is unlikely that Durant will get his desired moved away anytime soon.
