NBA superstar Stephen Curry has been one of the most influential basketball players in recent times. His family is full of athletes and they are a major reason behind his success. They support each family member on and off the court. Steph and his younger brother Seth Curry started playing basketball at a very young age because of their father Wardell Curry’s time in the NBA. Dell was a good shooter who played in the league for sixteen years.

He retired as the all-time scoring leader of the Charlotte Hornets with 9839 points in 10 seasons. The sharpshooter is still second on the list behind only Kemba Walker. Being around the NBA with their father, the Curry brothers decided to follow in his footsteps. They started working hard to improve their skills. And like most siblings, the two competed against each other on a daily basis.

This helped them develop their skills quickly and also their toughness. The two grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina where their father played for most of his career. They were two of the best players on their high school team.

Seth did not want to follow Stephen Curry

Even though Stephen Curry and Seth Curry were superstars in their high school, they were not heavily recruited. Davidson is the only NCAA Division I team that recruited Steph. So he joined them without any hesitation in 2006. He then became one of the best college players in the country. Seth had to shoulder the expectations of people to be as good as his father and older brother. Steph wanted his brother to follow in his footsteps and join Davidson after he finished high school in 2008. However, Seth did not want to do that.

“I didn’t want to go to Davidson,” Seth says. “I wanted to do my own thing.”

When Seth transferred to Duke in 2009, the Golden State Warriors selected Steph as the seventh overall pick. Seth then declared for the 2013 NBA draft but unfortunately went undrafted. Then the Warriors signed him and waived him. He then signed for the Santa Cruz Warriors, the G-League affiliate of the Warriors.

Seth has then gone on to play for multiple NBA teams so far and has had some good displays. During his time with the Portland Trail Blazers, he faced his older brother and the Warriors in the Western Conference Finals. This put their family in a very peculiar situation in terms of showing support. The Dubs came out on top. Currently, he is playing for the Brooklyn Nets.
