The Golden State Warriors season might be on the line with the recent evaluation. As the defending champions, the Bay has certainly underperformed up until now. In 52 games so far, the Warriors are locked in as the 7th seed. However, the Western Conference is cutthroat. One loss could salvage their position in the play in conversation. However, this time the reigning champs got the news that could spell horror. Notably, after exiting early in the win against the Dallas Mavericks, Stephen Curry could be out for several weeks.

Battling the Doncic-less Mavericks, the Warriors were in the driver’s seat. Stephen Curry was in motion to have a big night accumulating 21 by just the third quarter. However, with the sizeable lead in hand, the dreadful moment would leave Dub Nation in pieces. While defending, the two-time MVP took a hard knock on his knees. After further evaluation, Steph Curry went back to the locker room and never came back.

Speaking on the injury, Steve Kerr expressed his discomfort on the news according to the San Francisco Chronicle. The concern levels rose when Curry was said to have an MRI. Can the Warriors hang on without Stephen Curry?

From afar, the Warriors might look to be a playoff-lock franchise. However, a deeper dive reveals the scary truth. As far as the Western Conference goes, the competition extends to the 13th seed. After 53 games, the Bay has a record of 27-26. From here even a single loss could change the entire scales. Notably, all teams below the Warriors have a chance to steal their spot. With just 29 games left, each result is important. The last thing the Warriors would have wanted at this time is Stephen Curry sitting out more games with an injury.

This season, the Warriors have a 7-8 record without Curry in the lineup. They are arguably a deep roster, especially a the guard spot. Jordan Poole and Klay Thompson both stepped up massively in the 11 games the two-time scoring champion missed with a shoulder injury. Notably, 28.1 points and 4.3 assists in the Baby Face Assasin’s absence this season. In addition, they also have younger talents such as Jonathan Kuminga who can play on both sides of the floor. However, Stephen Curry is arguably the centerpiece of the Bay’s offense.

Without the greatest shooter of all time, the opposition defenses can figure out a way to shut down their entire offense. Likewise, having Curry has proved to be an unfair advantage with his elite shot-making ability. Now, the reigning champions desperately need someone to emulate his impact. If not, Curry might not have much left to fight for when he returns.
