The legendary Bulls player had a tough childhood. But as a father, he suffered the biggest tragedy one could ever imagine. He lost his son at the age of 33, and shared all about it in his book, ‘Unguarded’.

The Bulls no. 33 is the father six kids and he has a lot of pride for each one of them. The legendary NBA player was once one of the most celebrated people in the city of Chicago. But in his personal life, Scottie Pippen had to face a lot of hardships, even after his playing career was over.

In April 2021, the Bulls legend tragically informed the world about the passing of his son Antron Pippen through a touching Instagram post. It looked like it was difficult for Pippen to utter words for his son. Hence, he opened up about him in his book, Unguarded.

I think about Antron every day. He passed away a few months ago from complications related to asthma. He was only thirty-three” stated the six-time NBA Champion. Pippen further addedAntron was one of my best friends. The courage he displayed in dealing with his health problems reminded me a lot of my brother Ronnie. He never saw himself as a victim. I will forever wonder what amazing things he would have accomplished.”

The Hall-of-Famer mentioned in his Instagram post that he was pretty sure that his son would have made it in the NBA, if not for his asthma. Pippen mentioned in his book that he’s trying to move on, by being the best father to his five other kids.

Among his other sons, Scottie Pippen Jr. is actually a budding NBA prospect. The 22-year-old has had a stellar college career but remained undrafted in the 2022 NBA draft.

The Los Angeles Lakers ended up signing the player in a two-way contract while splitting his time with their G-league affiliate, South Bay Lakers. Pippen Jr. has been given opportunities with the LA Lakers to play in the 2022-23 preseason.
