Charlotte Hornets are a happy side irrespective of the on-floor results because they finally have LaMelo Ball back in the squad. The rookie can help the Hornets now, more than ever, to stay inside the advantageous zone of the top 8. He proved the same after a 360-degree play against Miami Heat.

Although the Hornets trailed in both the initial quarters against the Heat, it was LaMelo Ball who shined like none. The 19-YO was part of some sequences that showed the kind of skills he hides in his 6’6” physique.

Even as a rookie, Melo has become an instant crowd favorite for a valid reason. His hands have enough power to throw very deep passes, and his precision is just mind-boggling. On top of that, his creativity and the crafty crossovers make him a headache for the defenders. The youngster used all of that against the Heat and impressed everyone.

In a play during the first half, LaMelo Ball pierced through Goran Dragic and Duncan Robinson to make a supreme basket. He used mid-air crossover and switched hands like a pro to beat the blocking hands. Take a look –

Fortunately for the Hornets, LaMelo Ball started exactly where he left off. His game against the Pistons came after six weeks of sitting out because of a fractured wrist. But he played like his older self as his underarm full-court pass to Miles Bridges became the highlight of the night.

Then again, against the Heat, Melo already had 2 steals and a block by halftime. He showcased that he might lack explosiveness, but none of that harms him. He is an assist king and someone with an ability to find players when no one else can. The potential ROY did that again as he sent a cross-court pass to a wide-open Terry Rozier in the last moments of Q2. Take a look –

The Heat, thanks to the duo of Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler, stayed with a formidable lead after Q3. Still, it was LaMelo who proved that the Hornets will always have a chance.
