The NBA All-Star weekend has officially kicked off. The event kicks off with the Rising Stars game with a new four-team format coming in. In the first semi-final matchup, Team Isiah took down team Worthy in a close matchup. In hopes of getting a win for Team Worthy, Cole Anthony tried his best to distract Desmond Bane at the free-throw line. However, he took a weird approach as he took down his pants.

The Rising Stars event has a group of talented rookies and sophomores competing against one another. Previously, the game followed a different format with Team USA and Team World. However, this year, 4 NBA legends head in with their own teams. Notably, Isiah Thomas, James Worthy, Gary Payton, and Rick Barry have their own teams.

NBA Rising Star sees the rise of a new tactic

With Team Isiah’s Desmond Bane at the free-throw line, Cole Anthony wanted the sharpshooter to miss. Shooting in at an impressive 90% for the season, it is tough to get Bane off his game. Hence, Anthony decided to go all out. As Bane set himself to launch, Cole Anthony slipped off his pants in an attempt to distract him. However, things didn’t go his way as Bane still hit the free throw.

With the new format, each semi-final has a target score of 50 points, and in the first game, Team Isiah won by just one point as they became the first finalists.

It was an all-around effort in Isiah’s camp as they won 50-49. Detroit Pistons’ Saddiq Bey led the way with 16 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists and 3 steals for the game. Following his impressive regular-season run, Bane came up big time as he scored 10 points, but shot just 3/8. Fellow Piston Isaiah Stewart also scored 10 points in the win to go with 6 rebounds. Anthony Edwards and Tyrese Haliburton combined for 6 points as well.

For Team Worthy, Houston Rockets rookie Jalen Green emerged as the best player on the floor. He scored 20 of the 49 points for Worthy’s side. However, his effort wasn’t enough to take them over the line. Jalen Suggs was the only other player in double figures with 16 points. The remaining guys failed to make their mark, including Philadelphia’s Tyrese Maxey, who failed to put a single point on the board.
