WATCH: Former All Star Kevin Love Was Ready to Throw Arms After Thunder’s Lu Dort Elbows Him on a Flagrant 2 Foul

The match-up between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Oklahoma City Thunder heated up on the court at the end of the fourth quarter. As the Saturday night game came to a close, the Cavaliers were leading 81-73 with just seven minutes left.

Meanwhile, Luguentz Dort elbowed Cleveland forward Kevin Love while defending for the ball. From there on, everyone jumped in to separate the two players. Oklahoma City Thunder forward Luguentz was ejected during the game.

When the final horn went off, the score ended up being 94-87 in favor of the Cavaliers.

During the fourth quarter, Thunder’s Lu Dort was ejected for elbowing Kevin Love

In a tussle for the ball, Dort and Cavaliers guard Cedi Osman squared up against each other on the ground. Chiefly, as Darius Garland came forward to take the ball, Dort again fought for the ball and, in the midst of the struggle, he threw an elbow at Love. Through the scuffle, it seemed as though an attempt was being made to create separation amongst the players involved.

League veteran, Kevin Love absorbed a strike right below his neck, hitting his shoulder. Within moments, Love advanced forward and attempted to get in Dort’s face by moving past the referee. However, it was at this moment that teammates from both sides jumped in and began causing a break in the action.

Dort was then ejected from the game immediately after being charged with a flagrant 2 foul.

Thunderhead coach Mark Daigneault spoke to the media following the game. While he commented on the situation, he expressed his surprise over having Dort ejected from the game.

[Dort] got fouled two times. I thought his swing was to rip the ball away from Garland,” Daigneault said. “He was still playing. He caught Love, he was on the other side of him. We’re frustrated by that. He’s our best defender. I was not expecting that outcome.”

Dort scored 10 points and provided one assist in the game, which he covered in a total of 32 minutes. The average number of points and rebounds that he averages per game this season is 16.2.

When we look at the video closely, we see Dort pulling the ball away from Garland, so Mark’s analysis could stand ground according to some fans.
