Giannis Antetokounmpo is the reigning Defensive Player of the Year. He narrowly beat out LA Lakers star big-man Anthony Davis for that trophy. While AD got back at Giannis by hoisting a title at the end of that season, the Greek Freak entered the season with the defensive crown on his head.
Giannis is having the kind of season everyone has come to expect of him. However, his Milwaukee Bucks are faltering a little. They just fell to the Charlotte Hornets in their second consecutive loss.
While the loss is probably what stings a lot on its own, there is a Giannis low-light from this game that must also make the reigning MVP and DPOY feel a little angry.

Yes. That is Cody Zeller taking the ball to the rim over an outstretched Giannis. The dunk did seem unavoidable, as Giannis went for a herculean effort to stop that dunk. Instead, he ended up on the back of a pretty nasty looking poster.

The expectations from Giannis Antetokounmpo are so high, it seems he has finally reached the level that nothing he does in the regular-season matters anymore. We saw him obliterate everyone and everything for two consecutive seasons before falling in the playoffs. The measuring stick for his success will come in the post-season and the post-season alone.
However, this was in no way, shape, or form a bad game for Giannis. He had a monster stat-line of 34 points, 18 rebounds, and 9 assists. He gave it his all, including on that dunk.

That is defensive effort players usually don’t make. While it makes for an ugly highlight, Giannis is living and dying by giving his all for this team.
‘The Freak’ signed a five-year supermax this off-season, which means that the success of the Bucks is anchored to how Giannis plays. Hopefully, these losses and lowlights aren’t anything but a blip on the season, as Giannis will start showing why he is a two-time MVP.
