During the interview, Kobe was accompanied by Steph as he was one of the leading vote getters in that year. Furthermore, Kobe was asked if he wanted to get the fifth All-Star MVP before he hangs out his sneakers for good. To this question Bryant replied:

“No that would not be true to what I’m leaving behind with the game. I want to come out and compete. Don’t do something for me, let’s go out there and compete and have a good competitive game. [And] let’s win the game, that’s it. That’s all I want.”
