Shaquille O’Neal recently took to his social media to share a clip of two WNBA players getting into a brawl. The NBA Hall of Famer reacted to a clip of the WNBA match between the Pheonix Mercury and the Washington Mystics. The two players involved in the entanglement were Myisha Hines-Allen and Sophie Cunningham. The brawl apparently started when Sophie Cunningham fouled Mystics player Myisha Hines-Allen on her own three-point attempt.

Sophie Cunningham missed a three-point attempt and looked to the referee as she felt that she got fouled. In the process of this, Mystics player Myisha Hines-Allen walked over to Sophie, creating a stir of emotions. The incident that took place had a resemblance with what Allen Iverson did to Tyronn Lue in his Philadelphia 76er days.

Neither player looked to be backing down as they got into each other’s face. Later, the three referees on the floor called a double technical on the two players. O’Neal posted the clip showcasing the altercation on his Instagram story. Shaquille O’Neal has over 25 million followers on his Instagram handle and posts several stories daily. Many of the clips he shares are related to the NBA and the WNBA.

The clip of Cunnigham and Hines-Allen was almost like a throwback to Allen Iverson. In the 2001 NBA Finals between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Los Angeles Lakers, Iverson gave the NBA world one of its most iconic moments. During Game 1 of the Finals, Iverson did his ‘step over’ on Tyronn Lue. The altercation between Cunningham and Hines-Allen may not have been as iconic, however, there was a hint of Allen Iverson there.

Interestingly, former Los Angeles Lakers stars Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant were on the court when Lue got the ‘step-over’ done to him. 76ers legend Iverson took a baseline step-back and cashed the three-pointer right in Lue’s face. Cunningham, however, missed her attempt, but the call on the play was incorrect as she was fouled. The altercation was heated enough for Shaq to share it on his Instagram!

In the post-game press conference for the Phoenix Mercury, Diana Taurasi and Sophie Cunningham shared a laugh and gave their comments on the situation. Moreover, teammate Taurasi had her back throughout the physical game.
