“We Stealing Bibles Now?”: NBA Fans in Disbelief as Nuggets Star on $172 Million Contract Gets Robbed of Valuable Possessions

The Denver Nuggets are back on the road with a two-game winning streak after one home game. While their winning streak and team camaraderie has been highly appreciated, an unfortunate incident involving their small forward has left the NBA community in disbelief. Nuggets star Michael Porter Jr. was a victim of a robbery. Items such as designer bags, money, and a bible were stolen from his hotel room. Porter Jr signed a five-year $172 million rookie max extension with the Nuggets last year.

The team is yet to comment on the incident of the theft. Indianapolis police released a statement about the theft. They mentioned that the theft took place before the game and Porter Jr. was not present in the room. This news caused havoc on NBA Twitter.

Fans were quick to sound their sentiments regarding this news. What took fans by surprise was that a bible was stolen.”We Stealing Bibles Now?” said one of the popular tweets. Some concluded that it was probably a Pacers fan who did this. They also stated this news didn’t look on the place and hoped that the thieves are found immediately.

The Denver Nuggets registered their 8th win of the season against the Indiana Pacers. It was a game of comebacks. The Nuggets were down 18 points in the second half. But with Jamal Murray‘s 18 points and Michael Porter Jr’s 17, the Nuggets tied the score in the 4th quarter.

Reigning MVP Nikola Jokic made back-to-back baskets which gave the Nuggets a lead. Despite being on a minute restriction because of the quick fouls he picked up in the early part of the game, Jokic bagged 24 points.

Bennedict Mathurin’s 33 points and Tyrese Haliburton’s 21 points helped the Pacers give a good fight till the end. However, their efforts were in vain. The Nuggets eventually beat the Pacers in a 122-119 game. Murray spoke to the media about the team’s performance.

He said, “I think they got a lot of fast-break points in the first half. We limited that in the second half and just contested every shot and we were able to get going on offense, too.”

The Nuggets continue their road trip with a game against the Boston Celtics next.
