The Los Angeles Lakers legend is famous for his role in the NBA years ago. However, that is not the only role he has mastered in life. It’s a known fact that Big Diesel is a ‘strict parent’ of six children. Also, it’s no doubt how difficult it is to bring them up in today’s world. However, it looks like Shaquille O’Neal never had a problem. Thanks to “old school” parenting techniques the 4-time champion uses to date.

Shaquille O’Neal’s strict parenting techniques

Other than his accolades in basketball, Shaq is also famous for being a cold parent. A few months back, the former center revealed he doesn’t share his $600 million with his children. He shared in a previous episode of the podcast, “I tell them [his children] all the time. We ain’t rich. I’m rich.” Though his kids might not understand yet, the 15-time All-Star believes that’s the only right way.

Furthermore, Shaq also has a lot of expectations for his kids. He believes all his children must hold a degree. Having a millionaire father, you might think his children can easily get some money from Shaq. Definitely not! In fact, Shaq revealed if at all his kids want him to invest in their business, they must follow a formal procedure.

In addition to this rigid parenting, Shaq does not share tips on a platter with his children, so that they develop a few skills on their own – such as DJ skills. The Big Diesel is also a DJ, as many might not know. He revealed in the podcast, “I’m from the old school. When he [Myles. B O’Neal] asked me to teach about DJ, I said, so I bought him one of those controllers. I was like, teach yourself and he did!”

How did Myles B. O’Neal become a DJ?

Choosing a different path unlike his brothers, the 26-year-old went on to become a disc jockey. Here is how. Shaq shared, “These kids are so smart and more advanced. You know what he did, he went on YouTube… I came home like a week later, he is mixing and blending and I’m like ‘Damn!'”

Looks like this is a great parenting technique. Apart from being a DJ, Myles has also set his foot in the fashion industry. He is a famous model and has already represented many clothing houses. Success runs in the O’Neal family.
