Draymond Green has fallen into a bit of hot water after his physical altercation with Golden State Warriors teammate Jordan Poole. His aggressiveness has helped the Warriors to four championships in the past eight years. Following the incident which headlines across the NBA world, the video of the punch getting leaked put a lot more heat on Green and the Warriors themselves. Green was subsequently fined for his actions. However, the punishment given was not considered sufficient by many fans.

Internally, the situation is still likely fraught with tension and uneasiness. Green was recently seen alongside Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James and co. on an episode of ‘The Shop’.

Draymond Green said he had always been a “dawg” because of his upbringing in Saginaw, Michigan. “I had to be that to be on the court,” he said, “that was just how it had to be”. He elaborated that he didn’t have to be a “dawg” to be on the court until he got to the NBA. Green played for years in college but knew that wasn’t enough to get on the NBA hardwood courts. He said, “What was going to get me on the floor for the Warriors was to go bully somebody”.

This attitude did propel the player to create a modern-day dynasty with the Warriors in the past decade.

The Draymond Green-Jordan Poole physical altercation that made headlines

During a Golden State Warriors practice session recently, Green got into a physical argument with 23-year-old teammate Jordan Poole. During the session, the 32-year-old exchanged words with Jordan Poole before punching him. Draymond Green has already since expressed regret for the confrontation and took a self-imposed hiatus from the squad to allow his teammates some space.

The defending champions recently declared that Green will get a fine rather than a suspension for his behavior. The Golden State Warriors‘ handling of this situation has drawn criticism from many. For many people, the severity of the punishment was too lenient.

Draymond Green is expected to be available for selection for the Warriors’ season-opening game against the Los Angeles Lakers on October 18.
