NBA players like Dwyane Wade, Stephen Curry, and Russell Westbrook have made their mark on the Met Gala’s red carpet in recent years, turning it into a huge occasion for the basketball community. Brittney Griner also joined their ranks, showcasing her personality and sense of flair at the renowned event. Griner, who was released from Russian detention a few months back, made waves on Monday night by attending the Met Gala with her wife Cherelle Griner.
The couple’s gorgeous attire and contagious smiles made them stand out on the red carpet. Meanwhile, the Instagram handle of Vogue posted a video of the couple’s interview as they tried out their costume.

Brittney Griner and her wife spoke to Vogue about the honor of being able to attend the Met Gala. The Instagram handle of the brand posted a reel from their interview which was taken before the event. At the beginning of the video clip, Griner looked for Cherelle to introduce her. She said, “Where is my wife? Hey babe. Vogue, I would love to introduce you to my amazing wife, Cherelle Griner.”
Cherelle seemed visibly excited and in disbelief. She added, “I really cannot believe that this is happening but, we’re going to the Met.”

The WNBA star then opened up about the special honor of being able to attend such a prestigious event. She stated, “Just having this exposure, means a lot. Being in front of the biggest camera, the biggest media, so you and I can advocate for other detainees that are wrongfully detained overseas that need to come home and have the same welcoming that I had when I got back.”
Griner is expected to join the Phoenix Mercury in the coming days as the preseason is on the horizon. She played her last WNBA game in October 2021 when she played against the Chicago Sky. After announcing her comeback in Michael Jordan’s style, the Mercury fans have major expectations for Griner in the upcoming season.
