NBA stars are called ‘public figures’ for a reason. The media and the paparazzi ensure that the line between the athletes’ personal and professional life remains as thin as possible. No wonder why there’s an ongoing frenzy around Chris Paul and his rumored non-athletic twin, Cliff Paul.

CP3, a Winston-Salem born, got ‘3’ in his nickname because he, his father, and his brother share the same initials, and he is the youngest. Now, here’s the catch. His only older brother’s name is CJ Paul, and none of his family members share a relationship with anyone named Cliff.

So who is Cliff Paul and how is he related to Chris Paul?

Chris Paul, although of LeBron James’ age, entered the NBA two years later in 2005. He blessed the city of New Orleans for six long years before moving to LA to represent the Clippers. But at the end of that first year with the Clips, he surprised his fans with the introduction of his twin brother.

State Farm, a popular insurance company, launched Cliff Paul in a 2012 commercial. Cliff looked like a carbon copy of CP3, sporting a funny mustache, a retro dressing sense, and fat glasses.

Both Chris and Cliff Paul came together in many videos, making the fans believe that they were for real.

However, the truth was that Cliff Paul was just an alter ego (like Eminem’s Slim Shady) of the NBA legend. It was CP3 playing his non-athletic character and being an assistant to his real self like a pseudo-agent. But it all came to an abrupt end in 2017.

Chris Paul’s end of tenure with the LA Clippers (to join the Rockets) led to an early retirement of Cliff Paul’s character. However, the latest development suggests that Cliff is all set to make a grand comeback.

Recently, Nike’s Jordan brand launched a new colorway to pay tribute to the legends of Cliff. CP3.XI sports a desert sand upper lining and a chequered tongue matching with Cliff’s dressing sense. But that’s not it. Cliff’s verified Twitter handle is again active, and he recently dropped a hint with another State Farm stint.

Now that Cliff is coming back for the Suns’ Chris, please note that CP3 dislikes it when someone tags his relation with Cliff as a piece of acting. He would like his children and his fans to agree with Twin Uncle. Do you like this avatar of your favorite point guard? Help us know in the comments below.
