Michael Jordan has won a total of 5 MVPs throughout his career. In 1991 and 1992 Jordan won back-to-back MVP awards. Jordan has shown exceptional dominance on the court as well as off the court. During these seasons, Jordan was at the peak of his powers and led the Chicago Bulls to their first two championships in franchise history. Despite winning 5 MVPs in his career, there is someone who claimed his credits for Jordan’s performance.

While some may argue that Jordan deserved even more MVP awards throughout his career, there is no denying the indelible mark he has left on the sport. Who took credits for MJ’s MVP performance?

In the recent episode of complex podcast, actor and comedian Marlon Wayans spoke about his role in the upcoming movie about Michael Jordan and the Air Jordan sneaker line. Wayans explained that his role in the film focused on how his influence as a coach helped bring Jordan to Nike, and he was not involved in the production aspect of the movie. He also commented on the absence of Jordan himself in the film, but stated that he did not believe Jordan would care about the movie’s production, as he is already making money from his deal that gives him a percentage of every Air Jordan sold.

Marlon shared an incident of the All-Stars with everyone where he talked about how he gets the credit for MJ winning the MVP. He said, “one day I was at the All-Star event I think it was in Cleveland and Jordan got up to go get checked in the game and I’ll yell to Jesus Christ of basketball and he looked up like who the f*ck is that and he looked and he saw it was me and was just like he went out to win MVP.”

Wayans also spoke about his appreciation for the sneaker culture and how he sees it evolving. He noted that he likes how the talent associated with a brand is benefiting more from the business aspect, allowing him to learn from his own experiences as a pioneer in the game.
