“Whole Another Level”: Kendrick Perkins Claims Trae Young is Steph Curry 2.0

Trae Young is one of the fastest rising stars in the NBA. The Atlanta Hawks point-guard is one of the smallest players in the NBA, but his talent is huge. Young is a lethal scorer who can put the ball in the basket from anywhere on the court. In a matter of seasons, he has become the Hawks’ star player, and the franchise has built a solid team around him to maximize on his potential.

One person who is a big fan of Trae Young is none other than former NBA champion Kendrick Perkins. On ESPN’s The Jump, Perkins levied heavy praise on Young, calling him one of the best players in the NBA today. Perkins believes that Young frightens opposition teams to make defensive plays. Perkins compared Trae Young to another great point guard – Warriors’ Steph Curry.

He said, “I’m going to tell you – Trae Young is a top 5 player in the NBA. He can’t be guarded You talk about Steph Curry, but this guy is Steph Curry 2.0 because of the way he is able to facilitate and make plays for others.”

Perkins further added, “But there is no other player in the league, probably other than James Harden that I noticed that teams send traps at him as soon as he crosses the half-court, or box some ones on him. They do that to Steph Curry a little bit, but Trae Young is on a whole another level.”

Trae Young has been on the ascension as soon as he entered the NBA. Trae Young went to the Atlanta Hawks as the number five draft pick. Young was initially drafted by Dallas, but they traded him for the draft rights to fellow rookie Luka Doncic. But the Hawks got a talented player in exchange in Young. Ever since he joined the league, Young has shown that he is a special talent.

He made the All-Rookie team in his first year. And last year, Young became an All-Star for the first time in his career. Young has the potential to be an All-NBA player one day. And if he continues progressing at this level, he will be able to reach that level in no time.
