Ja Morant found himself in trouble when millions of people witnessed him flashing a gun on his IG Live. Shortly after that, the Memphis Grizzlies star guard was suspended by the franchise for at least two games while being put under a league investigation. Shortly after that incident, Morant issued an apology and took accountability for his actions. While many applauded him for taking responsibility, NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal still had a few questions for Morant that he needed answered.

Before the chaos ensued, Morant was doing great in terms of his on-court performances. The Grizzlies are the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference with 38 wins. Morant is currently averaging 27.1 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 8.2 assists.

It is no secret that for O’Neal, family comes first. Therefore, when he gave his thoughts on the situation, his main concern was Morant’s parents and the effects Morant’s actions had on them. In the recent episode of ‘Inside the NBA’, Shaq talked about the Grizzlies star’s “bad decision and bad choice.”

He said, “I’ve always had the ability to stop time and say, ‘If I do this, what’s going to be the outcome?’ It’s no excuse for what he did but remember, he pressed the button on his phone, he went live. You don’t go live, nobody knows he has a weapon, we’re not talking about this. But he did that and you know, why are you in the strip club with no shirt? Why are you walking around with a weapon? And why’d you hit the live button?”

Furthermore, he added, “Think of the higher power. Like, I feel for him now but I also feel for his mother and father. Hey what are they going through? So guys, before you make a dumb decision, not a mistake… a dumb decision, a dumb choice, think of the higher power – your mother, your father, your children.”
