Klay Thompson hasn’t played an NBA game in nearly two years. The Warriors’ shooting guard sustained an ACL tear during game six of the 2019 NBA Finals. Since then, he spent the entirety of last season on the shelf. He recovered from that injury prior to the start of this season, but sustained another season-ending injury prior to the start of this season. But Steve Kerr isn’t worried about his eventual return.

Steve Kerr not concerned about Klay Thompson

Steve Kerr spoke to the press ahead of the Golden State Warriors game against the Philadelphia 76ers. He noted that Klay can shoot even at the age of 75, and no injury can take that ability away from him.

Klay Thompson is considered one of the greatest shooters in NBA history. He and Steph Curry, known better as the ‘Splash Brothers’, lit up the NBA for several years. The duo led the Golden State Warriors to five consecutive NBA Finals from 2014 to 2019 and won three NBA championships together. Klay was a crucial part of the Warriors’ success during their dynasty years.

Klay is one of the most explosive scorers the NBA has ever seen. When Thompson can catch fire, there are few who can stop him. People remember the time he scored 37 points in a single quarter, while only having the ball for a limited amount of time. Thompson is a lights-out shooter, who cannot be stopped if he finds his range on the court.

The Warriors have missed Thompson over the last two seasons. Last year, Thompson was out for the entire year, and the Warriors ended the season with the worst record in the NBA. This year, the Warriors have been better, but still haven’t played to the level expected of them. They would be a lot better if Klay Thompson was back and in the mix this year.

Can Klay Thompson and the Warriors win another NBA championship? The Warriors have insisted that the dynasty is not over. If the franchise can reunite Klay and Steph Curry, then they will be major contenders from the Western Conference. However, the landscape of the NBA has changed significantly since Klay last played a game.
