Besides being a Los Angeles Lakers legend and an enigmatic superstar, Shaquille O’Neal has been so much more in his life. He’s been a great father, son, and philanthropist. However, fans who adore the big man have always wanted to see more of the 51-year-old’s dating life. Since his highly publicized divorce from ex-wife Shaunie Henderson, the Big Aristotle’s dating life has been kept under wraps. Naturally, fans want a brief insight into Shaq’s life. Recently, Shaq revealed more than just a little, by disclosing his true thoughts about marriage and dating.

Although Shaq got divorced over a decade ago, his dating stories have been very minimal throughout that time. Moreover, his recent thoughts on marriage and dating might give an interesting perspective to his fans who wonder why the Lakers legend hasn’t yet found his better half.

Shaquille O’Neal on marriage and cheating

Back in the mid-2000s, Shaq and Shaunie were going through a difficult time period. They were in the process of separation due to Shaq’s infidelity issues, which he has assumed responsibility for over the years.

However, since then, Shaunie and Shaq have gone in completely different directions in life. Shaunie got remarried in 2022 to Pastor Keion Henderson and seems to be living a happily married life. However, Shaq’s dating life seems to be stagnant, and many wonder if he has any plans to exchange vows at any time in the future.

In a recent episode of It’s Non-Negotiable podcast, the Big Aristotle was asked about his relationship status. The Lakers legend replied in the most Shaq way possible while explaining his thoughts on the dynamics of relationships in modern day and time.

“I have four wives,” said Shaq. He added, “I have three daughters… A man with his daughter and his wife is the same responsibility, ‘Protect, provide, and love’… And my mama. My father passed away about 10 years ago and before he passed away he said ‘make sure you take care of your mother’… Will I get married again? I don’t know, whoever will tolerate me.”

Furthermore, Shaq explained why he wasn’t really cut out for dating in modern times, due to the unfamiliar rules of relationships

“Y’all have added many more things to the cheating thing. Like if I flirt with her and you catch me flirting, in your mind I’ll be cheating,” said the Lakers legend. As the hosts explained to Shaq how there are levels to cheating, which include ’emotional’ and ‘mental’ cheating, Shaq interrupted. ” …That’s [emotional cheating] another word I’ve never heard before.”

Shaq’s break from relationships

Back in September 2022, Shaq admitted to being a “serial cheater” in his past marriage, which led to him missing out on some important time with his kids. O’Neal has admitted to his mistakes in the past numerous times, and how they cost him in life.

Additionally, his former relationship with model Laticia Rolle in the mid-2010s didn’t really end in a great way. Although the big man’s breakup in 2018 with Rolle was very quiet, she decided to delete all her pictures with the Lakers legend around the same time. Understandably, Shaq has taken some time off dating and has been rather focused on his family.
