The former All-Star team captain took to Twitter to urge the President to make his move. She said in a tweet: “It has been 267 days since our friend, Brittney Griner, has been wrongfully detained in Russia. It is time for her to come home.”
“We are paying attention and we are counting on you,” Stewart added.

President Biden and US officials have reportedly tried to negotiate a prisoner swap, one that would potentially include Brittney Griner and Paul Whelan, another US citizen currently incarcerated in Russia. The proposed exchange would be for convicted Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout, currently in prison in the US. However, Russia reportedly didn’t accept the terms. The Russian penal colonies have a reputation to be gruesome. Many have voiced their concerns for the 31-year-old. Likewise, the WNBA and NBA world wait to hear some positive news regarding Griner’s situation.
