WNBA legend Diana Taurasi gifted a pair of custom Michael Jordan shoes to one of the most iconic players in WNBA history, Sue Bird. The Phoenix Mercury star surprised Bird with a pair of custom Jordans in their last regular season game together. Taurasi, who has dedicated her life to the sport of basketball like Michael Jordan, used to play with Bird at the UConn women’s basketball team in the early 2000s.
Friday’s match marked the 46th encounter between the two legends. The Seattle Storm visited the desert to face the Phoenix Mercury in their last regular matchup of the season. In the game, Diana Taurasi dropped a brilliant 28 points, leading the Mercury to a 16-point victory.

On the other hand, Sue Bird had an underwhelming showing in the game. In fact, she tallied only two points and five assists in a losing effort. Nonetheless, the night ended with a wonderful surprise.

After the release of Netflix’s docuseries The Last Dance, Diana Taurasi weighed in on Michael Jordan and his career. In fact, the three-time WNBA champion could easily relate to the sacrifices that the Bulls legend had to endure to become the greatest.
“There’s going to be another Jordan; there’s going to be another me, but you gotta give up your life,” said Taurasi. “And watching this, he gave up his life to be the best basketball player in the world.”
