Brooklyn Nets superstar Kevin Durant has been through a lot, over the years. Belonging from a humble background, he had to put in the work to make it to the NBA and become one of the best players ever.

Winning his first MVP was a very emotional moment for him. During the acceptance speech, he thanked everyone on his journey and especially his mother. Durant poured his heart out in the speech which was met with huge applauses from around the world.

However, certain fans made a mockery of Durant’s big moment. He certainly wasn’t a fan of them as he bashed them for not having morals.

Kevin Durant lashed out at fans following MVP speech mockery

During his time at the Oklahoma City Thunder, Kevin Durant was already one of the biggest stars in the league. Although he was unsuccessful in winning an NBA title with the team, he won his first MVP title playing for the team.

A fantastic 2013-14 season saw him winning the MVP award for that year. Durant, obviously very emotional, made a speech thanking his mother for her role in shaping his life. “You went to sleep hungry. You sacrificed for us. You the real MVP,” Durant had said.

Although he was lauded worldwide for his speech, many mocked him unnecessarily. This wasn’t taken well by the two-time NBA champion. He said, “I was like, man, that was a real emotional moment for me, and you making a joke about it! Like: Damn. Y’all don’t really believe in shit. You don’t have no morals or nothing. You don’t care about nothing but just making fun.”

An emotional KD thanked his mother immensely for all her sacrifices. Moreover, he also called her “the real MVP” at the end of the speech and this segment of his speech went viral and was later used as a troll trope by fans.

Durant scripted history by winning his first MVP award

Kevin Durant was phenomenal during the 2013-14 NBA season playing for the Oklahoma City Thunder. He won his fourth scoring title in five years while also adding the MVP title to his trophy cabinet.

He won the prestigious award over LeBron James who came second in voting. Moreover, Durant became the first player after Allen Iverson in the 2000-01 season to win the scoring title and MVP award in the same season.
