The Boston Celtics are on the verge of making history. Having gone down 3-0 against the Green, Miami might be able to turn the Eastern Conference Finals around. While fans expected the Miami Heat to sweep the series 4-0, Jayson Tatum’s men fought back and forced Game 7. The star of the show, however, was Derrick White, whose clutch performance earned him a spot in an elite list with Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan.

The 8th-seeded Heat impressed basketball circles by eliminating the top-seeded Milwaukee Bucks in the first-round series. Heat forward, Jimmy Butler emerged as the driving force behind the team’s domination. During the Saturday night game, however, even Butler’s impressive clutch game couldn’t help the team in closing the series.

Derrick White joins an elite list alongside Michael Jordan

The Game 6 contest between the Celtics and Heat went down to the live wire at the Kaseya Center. Despite the neck-to-neck contest between the two sides, it all came down to the last three seconds to decide their journey in the championship run. The Celtics trailing by 1 point had 3 seconds to secure the team from elimination. The Celtics’ star Derrick White stepped in for his team and produced an unbelievable buzzer-beater for a 103-104 victory.

It gained him a spot on an elite list alongside Michael Jordan. White became the second NBA player to drop a game-winning buzzer-beater while facing elimination and trailing behind the opponents before scoring it.

Jordan created a similar moment when scored a game-winning buzzer-beater against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 1989 Playoff while facing elimination.

During Game 5 of the first-round series between the Cavs and the Bulls, the Chicago franchise was facing elimination and required 2 points to save the series with 3 seconds remaining in the game. Notably, in the 1989 league, the teams required a maximum of 3 wins to seal the series. Jordan collected the inbound and shot a jumper, beating the buzzer.

The moment brought out the iconic MJ celebration to light. The Bulls, however, succumbed to the Detroit Pistons in the Finals.
