The Golden State Warriors are taking on the Dallas Mavericks in an NBA showdown. However, the night is special for another reason. Dallas is honoring their former player, Dirk Nowitzki for the night and putting his jersey up in the rafters. Likewise, before the game, Stephen Curry and fellow Warriors had messages for the German on his big night.

Dirk paved the way for international stars in the NBA. Moreover, he is one of the most loyal players in the history of the NBA. Nowitzki spent his entire career with the Mavericks and even brought a championship to the city. Hence, he has done everything to deserve this honor.

Stephen Curry and Warriors join in on Nowitzki’s big night

While Dallas is cheering on for Dirk in the arena, the Bay did not disappoint either. Despite being the opposition, they took it upon themselves to honor the German legend. The original ‘Big 3’ of Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and Stephen Curry spoke on Dirk and congratulated him for all his achievements.

Curry said: “Dirk, congratulations on your jersey retirement, It’s obviously a well-deserved acknowledgment and accomplishment for your entire career and doing it in one city. Representing Dallas, Germany, your entire family, teammates, and everybody. So congratulations on a job well done. I hope you feel the love, and you changed the game man.”

Coming from one record-breaker to another, means a lot to Nowitzki and the city of Dallas. Curry referred to the German’s ability to shoot despite being a big man. His iconic one-legged fadeaway will live on in the city of Dallas. Despite all the hardships, Dirk did not give up and took the city to the top of the mountain on his own.
