“You Played Against My Dad.. You Feel Old Don’t You”: LeBron James Shocked Mid-Game as 19 Year Old Rockets Rookie Reminds Him on Father Time

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James has been dominating the league for about 20 years. Throwing down tomahawk dunks, plastering opponents on posters, and hitting game-winning shots. King James has been playing in the league for so long that his opposing players’ children have now entered the league. Bron is still going strong at age 38. Recently, James got a blast from the past during his first matchup against the Houston Rockets.

The Los Angeles Lakers hosted the Houston Rockets for the first time this season. LeBron James not only had some words for Rockets head coach Stephen Silas over his father’s untimely demise. But James too got a reminder of the approaching father time.

During the game against the Rockets, Jabari Smith Jr. approached LeBron James to remind him of how old he had gotten. Smith Jr. reminded Bron that he had played his first NBA game against his father. Smith said, “You played against my dad in your first NBA game ever. Sacramento. You feel old don’t you?” leading to the to the two breaking out laughing as the game continued. 

James’ first game was against the Sacramento Kings back in 2003. Even though James lost his first NBA game, he was still the leading scorer on the team. ‘The King’ posted 25 points, 6 rebounds, 9 assists, and 4 steals in that game.

To put things in perspective, James has been playing in the league for so long that his opponents’ children have made it into the league. However, he still has not shown any signs of slowing down whatsoever.

James planning on playing with his son

LeBron James is 38 years old now. Nevertheless, he still wants to play in the league long enough to share the court with his elder son, Bronny James. Bronny won’t be eligible to play in the league till 2024. By the time Bronny makes it to the league, James would be around 40 years old. Many other players have played in the league while being 40. However, mostly in the shirt of a role player or a bench warmer.

The most recent player to play well into his 40s was Vince Carter. He retired at the age of 43, with the Atlanta Hawks. In the manner, James is playing right now, he could very well still be in the league by the time Bronny gets drafted.
