NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal is one of the most dominant big men ever. It is never an easy job to walk in his shoes. However, his son, Shareef O’Neal would have it no other way. Even after his father was against it, he declared for the 2022 NBA draft. But he disappointingly went undrafted. However, all was not lost as the Los Angeles Lakers came calling. The Lakers selected Shareef to their summer league team. And he had the platform to display his talents.

Over the course of the summer league tournament, Shareef made some exciting highlight plays. He had a decent outing with the Lakers’ summer league team. However, it was not enough to land him a spot on the Lakers’ roster. Then it was reported that the 22-year-old signed a six-figure contract with the G-League Ignite.
And Shareef took to Twitter and said, “VEGAS LETS DO IT !! Thank you ignite !” Thus, Shareef O’Neal has begun chasing his basketball dream. While it is never easy with the pressure of being the son of Shaquille O’Neal, he is not ready to quit. Once Shareef revealed the reason his father is tough on him.

Shareef O’Neal once revealed that his father Shaq is tough on him during practices. He also said that he is never satisfied with himself. Shareef said, “I am never satisfied with myself. I think me working out every day and doing something, people could see the progression. He told me that ‘I see where you can be, I see what’s in you. So I’m gonna be tough on you. That’s not because I hate you, it’s because I want you go to the next level.’…”

However, Shareef didn’t have the best of college careers due to his heart issues. Shaquille O’Neal on the other hand had a great college career and declared for the NBA draft. The Orlando Magic selected him as the #1 pick of the 1992 NBA draft. He hit the ground running and turned the struggling Magic team into a contender.
O’Neal had a mindboggling rookie season and rightfully won the Rookie of the Year award. He averaged 23.4 points, 13.9 rebounds, and 3.5 blocks per game as he outright dominated the league. This kind of dominance was not seen in the league for a while. Then the Lakers legend eventually cemented himself as an all-time great in the game of basketball.
