Trash talking has been a part of the game for a very long time now. NBA legends of the game of almost every generation feed off trash-talking or being on the receiving end of it. The players fuel themselves to either come good for their words and prove themselves right or prove their opponents wrong. Some of the best examples of such players were Michael Jordan, Dennis Rodman, Larry Bird, Kobe Bryant, and others.
The guys just loved to trash talk and mess with their opponents. LeBron James’ former Cavs teammate Iman Shumpert shared some things about Larry Bird.

“You got to deal with he getting the ball whenever he wanted.” Iman Shumpert talked about how Larry Bird used to tell beforehand what he was going to score and sometimes how and then do it right after.
He continued, “You a b****, you can’t do nothing about it. There ain’t nothing you could do about it. [How Larry Bird use to play] They said all that sh** is real. That’s it. All that sh** is dead serious. They say he [Bird] really liked that.”
Shumpert then shared the story of one of his workouts where a retired Larry Bird came and did not hold back, “When he came round now he don’t even like hold back chirping like he’ll tell you, yeah you wouldn’t do that show unless you do that sh** not even one bit.”
Best trash talking moments in NBA history, featuring Michael Jordan, Larry Bird and Kobe Bryant
There are actually moments in history where the three legends have just shunned their opponent with their words. All three of Larry, Michael, and Kobe had the talent to back whatever they say on and off the court. Moreover, they had the courage to trash talk and the elite mentality to do what they said.
There is a story about Michael Jordan coming to the dressing room and addressing the opposition. He tells the two of them to lace it up as it was going to be a long night. MJ then went on to win the game, scoring 50 odd points. Once MJ asked a player about who was guarding him and said 50. In that game, MJ scored 54.
Kobe Bryant, once before the 4th quarter, told Iman Shumpert that he had a good game. There were still 12 minutes left, and the Lakers were trailing by some points. Eventually, Kobe dominated the fourth quarter and won the game for the Lakers. Bryant once also said that he would score 50 before the game and then he went on to score 49 with 6 minutes to go and eventually completed 50 points.

Larry Bird was special as well. He used to tell the place from where he was going to hit the bucket before doing it, and it was still impossible to stop him.

Larry Bird also once missed a shot with around 2-3 seconds left. The Boston Celtics took a timeout and Bird promised his teammates that not only he was going to catch the ball, but he was going to win the game for them. Larry got the ball and scored the three-pointer to win the game at the buzzer, obviously!
