Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry is one of the most clutch players ever. Thanks to his ability to make three-pointers from anywhere on the court, he can split defenses at will. However, this former NBA player once chose young basketball sensation Luka Doncic over Curry.

The player is none other than JJ Reddick. Talking on his podcast with Steph Curry in attendance, Reddick talked about how people perceive him to be a Steph hater when the reality is different. Interestingly enough, a laughing Steph forced the former Philadelphia 76ers star to reveal why people perceive him as a hater. Subsequently, the conversation veered to who is more clutch between Curry and Doncic.

Former NBA player reveals why people think he is a Stephen Curry hater

Four-time NBA champion Stephen Curry is widely regarded as one of the greatest players of this generation. On the other hand, Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks is the next big thing in the league. In fact, he is often touted by NBA analysts as the future face of the NBA.

During a First Take debate during the start of last season’s playoffs on who is more clutch between Curry and Doncic, JJ Reddick chose Luka. This gave people the perception that he is a Curry hater.

Interestingly enough, the Warriors superstar pestered Reddick into talking more about the topic. Therefore, Reddick blurted out, “See, you’re being an a**hole. No, this is what it is.”

He further elaborated, “I was asked on First Take, who would you rather have in the clutch, Luka or Steph? First Take is really a black-and-white thing, you can’t live in the grey. So, I chose Luka.”  Reddick had made such a bold prediction based on simply the stats available at that time.

Curry got the better of Luka Doncic when they met in the playoffs

The Dallas Mavericks had a brilliant playoff run last season beating the likes of the Phoenix Suns along the way. Subsequently, they faced the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference Finals.

Although the Mavs gave a tough fight, the Warriors clinched the series 4-1. Stephen Curry averaged 23.8 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 7.4 assists against the Mavs. On the other hand, Doncic averaged 32.0 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 6.0 assists.
