The video of Sanders’ comments was played first, then Turner asked the four-time NBA champion for his opinion. Incidentally, Shaq was raised along with his siblings by his hardworking mother Lucille O’Neal, before his stepfather Sergeant Phillip Harrison came into the picture.
However, what Shaq said next completely stunned Nischelle Turner. “Ain’t nothing wrong with that. There’s nothing wrong with what he said,” Shaq declared.
Turner was shocked to hear this from the Big Diesel. O’Neal added that he does not do “dumb sh*t” because he was raised by a strict father. He noted, “A lot of kids don’t have that, a lot of kids have hard-working mothers that really have to work and they grow up on their own. And you can go left or you can go right.”
Shaq emphasized that a disciplinarian father-figure is necessary for the development of a young man and kids without fathers tend to be more disagreeable and prone to bad influence based on statistics. Therefore, the Big Diesel saw nothing wrong with Sanders’ assessment.

But Nischelle was not impressed with this take from the four-time NBA champion. The Emmy Award winner stated that that was not what Sanders was insinuating. Shaq reiterated that Sanders wants his quarterbacks from a two-parent household because they listen and that the kids who grew up without a father are harder to raise. He added that Sanders was spitting facts.

Nischelle Turner was not impressed with O’Neal’s comments
Nischelle Turner was not happy with the comments of Shaquille O’Neal defending Deion Sanders. She asked, “So basically you’re saying the defensive lineman is supposed to be like dumb?” O’Neal replied, “Yes. I want my defensive lineman hard. Yes, it is.”
Turner was in disbelief. She then stated that she was from a single-parent household as well. Shaq said that the children raised by a single parent can succeed as well, but it’s less likely compared to kids from two-parent households. Nischelle then asked whether she would be counted out for the “quarterback” position just because she was raised by a single parent. Shaq replied, “Maybe.” Turner didn’t seem too pleased with this reply.
