The Biggest NFL event of the year has finally concluded as the Patrick Mahomes-led Kansas City Chiefs won their second (third overall) Super Bowl championship on February 12. A brilliant performance from the Chiefs quarterback Mahomes helped the Chiefs secure a 38-35 victory against the Philadelphia Eagles during a tricky game. Moreover, Patrick Mahomes was also named the Super Bowl MVP for the second time in his career. After receiving the 2022 Super Bowl MVP, the Chiefs QB Mahomes was recently compared to Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson by renowned TV host Jimmy Kimmel.

Following his second Super Bowl victory, Patrick Mahomes recently made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live show. Kimmel and Mahomes discussed a series of issues during the show, including the Chiefs QB’s feelings about winning the Super Bowl, being named the MVP, and his scary ankle injury during the game. Moreover, Kimmel also ended up comparing Patrick Mahomes to Magic Johnson because of his ‘smiling’ nature.

Patrick Mahomes reacts to Magic Johnson comparison

In the recent edition of his show, Kimmel pointed out that Mahomes was quite famous among the kids. Moreover, Kimmel also asked the Chiefs QB to shed light on why kids love him so much. The 27-year-old NFL superstar reckoned his biggest motive to play the game was to go out to the field and enjoy every moment of it.

Moreover, Mahomes suggested that football was a ‘kid’s game’. The two-time NFL MVP felt grateful to be able to play the highest level of football and be in a position to make a great deal of money and enjoy fame. The heartfelt revelation from Patrick Mahomes triggered a compliment from Kimmel.

Jimmy Kimmel said, “You are smiling all the time when you are playing. It reminds me of Magic Johnson really, who had that kind of same effect that I think you have on football.” Mahomes responded by feeling gracious about being compared to the five-time NBA champ Johnson.

Patrick Mahomes stated, “Yeah! I mean, that’s a great person to be compared with. One of the all-time greats of any sport. And he did it the right way and I want to try to do whatever I can to leave my mark on this game, more than winning games with the way I played it.”

Thus, while feeling contended by the comparison with Magic, Mahomes suggested that he had his eyes set on bigger goals ahead in his NFL journey.

How did Mahomes perform in terms of the Eagles’ Jalen Hunt?

The Super Bowl game between the Chiefs and Eagles was believed to be the battle of their QBs. Mahomes was up against the Eagles’ Jalen Hurts, who also had a prolific season this year. However, Mahomes managed to get the better of Hurts despite suffering an ankle injury.

In terms of passing, Hurts had a CMP of 71% with 304 yards covered and a single touchdown. Meanwhile, Mahomes had a CMP of 77%, making 21 completions out of 27 attempts, with 182 yards covered and three touchdowns to take the Chiefs home to a resounding victory on Sunday.
