As LeBron James is injured and not playing, he has a lot of time to spare and make bold claims over the internet. His recent claim about son Bronny has caused a stir among fans and players alike. In a tweet to his millions of followers, James suggested that Bronny is “definitely better than some of these cats I’ve been watching on league pass today.” While he did not name names, his comment has been met with both support and ridicule. Something similar was argued by a popular NFL star.

On the Pivot podcast, with the NBA playoffs approaching, Clippers coach Tyronn Lue took some time off his busy schedule to sit down with hosts Fred Taylor, Ryan Clark and Channing Crowder before the NBA’s postseason frenzy.
NFL star shuts down James’ bold claim about son Bronny
One of the hosts and popular NFL star, Ryan Clark, responded to the relatively viral tweet of LeBron James about his son being better than players these days. Clark addressed James’ claim on the Pivot podcast, saying, “I love my child right, but I’m not going to… Bron, you’re my guy, it’s awesome that you’re a great father.” While Clark’s comment was lighthearted, James’ tweet about Bronny got exactly this kind of mixed reaction from the fans. People also defended the fact that the talent might run in the bloodline.
Despite the scrutiny, Bronny is holding his own on the court. The 6-foot-3 point guard is currently in his senior year at Sierra Canyon High School in Los Angeles, where he is considered one of the top recruits in the country. ESPN ranks him as the No. 28 player in the class of 2023, and he has offers from some of the top college programs in the country.
Of course, being a top prospect doesn’t necessarily translate to success at the elite level. While Bronny has shown flashes of greatness, he still has a lot of work to do before he can be considered NBA-ready.

LeBron James: the chosen one?
LeBron James himself knows this better than anyone. As a high schooler, James famously declared himself ‘The Chosen One’ and was widely expected to become the next Michael Jordan. While he has lived up to those expectations in many ways, he has also faced his fair share of criticism and scrutiny over the years.

Ultimately, whether Bronny is NBA-ready is something that only time will tell. He still has a few years of high school and college basketball ahead of him, and anything can happen between now and the 2024 NBA Draft. But one thing is for sure: LeBron is a proud father who believes in his son’s abilities.
