“Mamba Mentality, Kobe Bryant. You know it’s going to happen already before it actually happens. I truly believe in that power. Mental power, projecting your thoughts and creating your future,” said the new World No. 1.

His post-game speech was heard by Vanessa Bryant, who has relentlessly worked to keep the Los Angeles Lakers greats’ legacy alive. The businesswoman shared the moment on her Instagram story. The 5x NBA champion had once admitted that Djokovic was his favorite among the “Holy trinity of tennis” of Djokovic, Roger Federer, and Rafael Nadal. The 23-time Grand Slam winner had paid his respects to the Black Mamba after his unfortunate demise as well.

Novak Djokovic won 7-6(1), 6-3, 7-5 against Ruud. He is now only one Grand Slam title behind Margaret Court who holds the all-time tennis record with 24. At 36, Djokovic proves to be an immortal great. Among the pantheons of the all-time icons of the game, his quest for greatness is still as desperate as ever.
