As per reports, the Russian Court has set a date for Phoenix Mercury player Brittney Griner’s appeal against the previous court verdict. The Moscow region court will be hearing Griner’s appeal on October 25, 2022. Earlier, she had testified that although the canisters were in her bag, she had packed them in a hurry. Proofs were presented in the court in the form of written statements that cannabis was prescribed to her as a treatment for pain. On the other hand, Washington has reportedly offered to send Viktor Bout in exchange for Griner and Paul Whelan. However, the Russian government is yet to respond to the offer.

On the contrary, the owner of the Phoenix Suns and WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury Robert Sarver has reportedly hired investment bankers. The bank officials will be managing the sales of both teams.

“It’ll be the highest price ever paid for an NBA team,” said one of the bank officials.

Reverend Sharpton is waiting for Brittney Griner’s release

On the occasion of Reverend Sharpton’s 68th birthday, he received the Phoenix Suns jersey as a gift. The civil rights activist posted a picture of him holding the Phoenix Suns jersey on his Twitter account.

“I got a birthday gift and now that Robert Sarver is out at the Suns I can wear it. I hope that Brittney Griner gets out soon to go back to playing with the Phoenix Mercury,” wrote Sharpton.

Reverend Sharpton has been very vocal about the Robert Sarver controversy. He was one of those people who repeatedly called for the Suns’ owner’s suspension after the league completed its 10-month investigation. Furthermore, prior to the investigation, Sharpton had also put repeated pressure on the league to prioritize the case.

“We are not going to allow people to affect the culture of the NFL or the NBA and insult us and act like that’s acceptable behavior. They think, because it was November, everybody forgets about it, and that’s why we wanted to put that pressure on. So we are, on the Phoenix Suns,” said Sharpton earlier in March 2022.
