Carmelo Anthony is an all-time great and the talks around his declining ability and potential retirement are never-ending. He believes that he has more left to play and frankly speaking he does. His return to NBA through the Portland Trailblazers proves that making this one of “feel good” stories of this era. After just nine games and multiple impressive performances by the former All-Star, the Trail Blazers confirmed his one-year contract.
Carmelo Anthony considered retiring this season
Before the start of the season, many suggested him to retire after a one-day contract with any of his former teams. He was considering retirement but the Trail Blazers gave him home next to Damian Lillard and his Portland teammates.

After joining the team, he feels respected and properly utilized by head coach Terry Stotts. This is a huge contrast from his last two experiences with the Thunder and Rockets. These two teams wanted him to morph into a role-player which didn’t end up working well.

Carmelo on his future and retirement
Carmelo has shown why he is an all-time great player this season as he averages 16.1 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists. The numbers and his efficiency in scoring is much better as compared to his last two seasons.
The perennial scorer said that he is not considering this as his farewell season. He would love to play more. If the Blazers give him an offer at the end of the season, Melo will accept. He is extremely fond of the city and wants to retire with this team.

Carmelo Anthony on Kobe Bryant
Carmelo Anthony on Instagram recalls his last phone call with his friend and Olympic teammate Kobe Bryant.
In the phone call, Kobe told Melo that he was ” proud of him regardless of anything” and to “stay true to himself”. They also bonded over him coaching his daughter Gianna’s Basketball team and how he works them too hard. He asked Kobe to give the team a day off. Typical “Mamba” always giving his all and pushing others around him to do the same.

Melo described that the pain of the duo’s death has been “unbearable” and that this incident will “never make sense to him”.
