Gilbert Arenas is well-known across the basketball world for being vocal about his thoughts. And this tendency has often landed him in the midst of controversial debates. In a recent episode of Gilbert’s YouTube series, he sat down with his team to share his insights for Game 2, in which the Minnesota Timberwolves played against the Denver Nuggets.

While sharing his views, Gilbert became distracted and noticed the absence of Rudy Gobert. He expressed his feelings, “It’s a baby, bro…It’s gonna be there when you get back, we hope. I’m just saying, the baby, whatever you think you about to do, he’s going to be asleep,” while criticizing Rudy.

As his interview aired, it garnered attention from the basketball world, leading to fervent online debates. This news also caught George Karl’s attention. He took to his official Twitter account and penned, “Does the 0 in Agent O for Gilbert Arenas stand for having zero idea what he’s talking about?!” while throwing down the gauntlet at Gilbert.

Once again, within hours of being uploaded, George’s tweet captivated audiences. But this isn’t the first time Gilbert has received criticism after his recent remarks on Rudy’s absence from Game 2. When Gilbert first shared his thoughts, he was immediately chimed in by his cohost. Interestingly, his co-host emphasized more on the importance of skin-to-skin contact for the parents of newborns.

Not only, the former NBA player’s co-host, but Draymond Green too dived in. He said, “So when I heard Rudy wasn’t going to play, I was like, ‘Wow.’ To me, it almost felt as if you were almost cashing it in, like, ‘We won Game 1,’ because my first immediate question was if they lost Game 1, would the approach be the same?” Now, the question is: Is it just Gilbert’s remarks on Rudy’s baby that urged NBA personalities to share their views?

Deeper look at Gilbert’s take

Notably, Rudy missed the Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Denver Nuggets game due to the birth of his baby boy. On May 6, just a couple of hours before he was expected to appear on the court his little one was born.

Still, Gilbert wasn’t satisfied with the excuse. He added, “I get you want to be with your wife and smile and stuff, and your good NBA healthcare insurance, it’s because of you playing.” He also remarked that his Minnesota Timberwolves’ teammates would not respect him due to his absence and suggested he could have met his newborn afterward, ending the conversation with, “still be in the hospital, anyway.

As expected, some are on Gilbert’s side, emphasizing the importance of playing an NBA game, while others stress the significance of being present for skin-to-skin touch with a newborn. What are your thoughts on the matter? Comment down below and stay tuned for more updates.
