My favorite dunk, I dunked on Ray Allen. I only liked that because KG was just talking so bad to me. And when I dunked on him, ‘Bit– a– ni—!‘” Once Jeff Teague recalled one of his favorite dunks against the Celtics, only because Kevin Garnett was not a fan of the attempt. Apart from the two members of the Big3 of the Boston franchise, Teague recently shared another memory. This time, the player was Tony Allen, who also had a connection with the Beantown.

I got a story we tried to run you probably don’t remember. I remember you came off the bench we was in Memphis, you came off the bench this game.” On Season 3, Episode 36 of Club 52o podcast, the former champion spoke about Allen when he was playing for the Grizzlies. “If y’all know TA, I be like this (guy) dirty. This (guy) had powder all on his shorts everything. Like I’m like ‘Damn man! that (guy) don’t give a fu–.‘”

Teague mentioned how he had been around teammates who would have messy outfits and locker room. But he was taken aback when he saw an opponent, that too Tony Allen. “TA come out; he get the powder smacking on his legs. I’m like look at this (guy) uniform.” Hearing this story, even Allen’s former teammate seems to agree. Kevin Garnett re-shared the post on his story with “😂😂💯.”

He was part of the franchise for 6 seasons from his draft till the 09-10 season. The Grindfather shared the locker room with KG for three seasons and both played 182 games together with a healthy win percentage (60). Despite Allen’s powdered shorts, he did learn a lot from the Big 3 of the Celtics.

Tony Allen on his learnings from Kevin Garnett and Co.

The Celtics’ Big 3 of Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and Ray Allen brought the championship in the 2008 season. Their hard-nosed style of play gave a hard time to a lot of the teams. That style of play took some time to develop, and the former champion gave credit to Pierce first. The Truth initiated these practices with intense battlegrounds to elevate the team’s competitiveness.

Tony Allen previously recalled the sessions, “I’d be so ready, amped up to come play this man one-on-one, man. Ruth will tell you too, like, man, bruh got me better.” Even former teammate Leon Powe praised Kevin Garnett for his undying work ethic. “KG made everyone step their game up. Everybody came early.”

Those sessions also had a name, “G-Unit runs.” Which undoubtedly reaped benefits as the sessions which started in 2007 winter, soon after helped them win the championship. That’s why Kevin Garnett, Tony Allen, and others have positive memories from their time with the Boston Celtics.
