Both Keion and Shaunie Henderson were separated when they met each other. However, they decided not to meet for 6 to 8 months in person due to the media pressure. The Houston-based pastor said, “Because TMZ follows her everywhere she goes“. So, they decided to FaceTime each other until one point. Shaunie met Keion only for a few hours which would become their second meeting because she was “watching him decline.”

Recalling the events of the day during the Cry Out Conference in Houston. Keion said in an appearance on Dear Future Wifey, “I was in the house by myself depressed, frustrated, and seeing my daughters on the weekend.” Speaking about their relationship status with host Laterras R. Whitfield, Keion said that they were friends but his perception changed quickly.

“But when she came, I looked at her as a hero.” It was important because he was not used to celebrating Christmas in an empty house. During that time, he was going through his divorce so it was already a hard time. He was ready to meet his mother and asked his then 5 or 6-year-old daughter to get ready. However, Shaunie Henderson had a surprise up her sleeve which Keion was not ready for.

Shaunie and Kieonna, Keion’s sister had conjured up a plan which involved Keion driving to the airport. Obviously, he was not thrilled about it. Plus, he was told to pick up Uncle Jerome. But all the complaining turned to joy when he saw there was no Uncle Jerome but the Basketball Wives star.

“And come running around the corner was her on Christmas. On Christmas, she got kids, left her kids at home to come be with my kid in my mama house.” However, Shaunie Henderson had to clarify that was only for a few hours, so people don’t perceive it out of context. Though the couple have now found their bliss in each other, it was not always this easy for them.

Keion and Shaunie Henderson’s troubled 1st marriage

Both of them had broken marriages before but with different circumstances. Shaunie Henderson was the ex-wife of Shaquille O’Neal . Being in front of the media, she would get judged daily for her choices. She even had to deny the alimony rumor that started from nowhere. “First of all, I don’t know where that came from, I didn’t get alimony. I got child support.” Even the amount of $50,000 was chucked in reports but Shaunie categorically denied them.

“I don’t want to get married because I don’t want to fail because if I survive this (divorce), I definitely can’t survive it again,” said Keion about his previous marriage. It took him close to 3 years to get a divorce, and he described the process to be “messy and elongated.”

The couple got married in May 2022 in the Caribbean destination of Aurora Anguilla Resort & Golf Club. All the children were present at the wedding making it even special for the couple.
