Noah concluded his stint on The Daily Show in December 2022. However, due to writers and actors’ strikes causing a delay in the Emmys, the Television Academy is now recognizing outstanding TV achievements from the 2022-23 season.

Trevor Noah shared his gratitude for his Emmy win

In his speech, the South African comedian also thanked the other great variety talk shows. Other nominees were Late Night With Seth Meyers, Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, and The Problem With Jon Stewart.

He also thanked Jon Stewart who was the last host to receive the honor in 2015. “The person I always thank because he’s a crazy genius for thinking of it, Jon Stewart. Wherever you are my friend, thank you for calling me up and asking me to come and join you on this crazy journey,” said Trevor Noah.
