Following Team USA’s failure to win the Gold in 2019, they came in with high hopes of regaining their throne at the FIBA World Cup 2023. A loss to Lithuania in the prior rounds made waves as fans and former players shared their thoughts on the team’s weaknesses, including 3x NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas. The Washington Wizards legend claimed the team was weak. After they crumbled in the semifinals against Germany, Arenas again took aim at the roster and reminded fans of his harsh verdict.

While some people agreed with Arenas’s sentiment, most people were not kind to Arenas following his earlier comments. But they seem to be on point.

The internet has not rested after Team USA’s embarrassing loss in the semifinals of the FIBA World Cup. Arenas had earlier said that the players they sent to the FIBA World Cup mostly fell in the bottom tier when one ranked them against other people in their position. He said that it was an ‘F-tier‘ team, and only Anthony Edwards was the one on the team with at least B-tier talent.

But after Team USA’s recent loss to Germany, fans who took his side previously shared that others were wrong for trashing him. Arenas shared a story on his Instagram page captioned, “@no.chill.gill (Gilbert Arenas) told y’all but everyone was mad they trash sorry not sorry like this the 8th men in they position.

Arenas implied that the best players in their position were sitting at home, and the USA sent a weak team that consisted of role players. He said in an earlier tweet.Team USA took that weak roster to the World Cup, and look what happened!” Arenas claimed that players like Jimmy Butler, Jaylen Brown, and Ja Morant should have been sent to represent the country.
